These Dancing Fish are intended to symbolize good union and bring with them sustenance, abundance, and good fortune. These fish carry with them connotations of fertility and renewal as well as respect for the cycles of the natural world. First Nations people have great respect for the salmon and often perform salmon ceremonies to celebrate the return of the salmon each year. According to First Nations legend it is important to return the bones of the fish to the water so the salmon people will be happy and return each year.
