CASC 2018 Lhulh?uts?ut?en ? Working Together
The CASC 2018 Lhulh'uts'ut'en - Working Together logo blends traditional and contemporary elements to create an overall image that reflects the structure of an atom imposed over our planet. Instead of the usual electrons circling the nucleus (Earth), shown through stylized paths, we see elements that are integral to the study of our biosphere. From an Indigenous perspective, we view the environment wholistically taking into account the balance between the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects. Engineering, represented through the gears, and technology, represented by the sun with circuit board matrix, signify strength in the mental realm. The physical aspect is strongly tied with the land through the image of the turtle for turtle island and the plants that provide nourishment and medicine. We also physically and emotionally have strong connections with animals so the fish and eagle feather denote those life forms that inhabit the land, sky and water. Spiritually, the eagle is also the carrier of our spirit, a symbol of strength, resiliency and union. The earth has a heartbeat we are all tied to which is evident in how we work together. © 2017 The Exploration Place and The Canadian Association of Science Centres
